The Kentucky Orphan Brigade is a brigade-level organization of re-enactors and other living historians who portray the soldiers of the famous Kentucky Orphan Brigade that fought in the Confederacy during the American Civil War or War Between the States (1861-1865). It's "members" are independent reenacting groups who have come together to work in a coordinated body for certain events through the campaign season. The member units are from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee.

It is important to note that the Brigade is an "umbrella" organization composed of independent re-enactor units. Individuals hold membership in their respective independent units and the unit holds membership in the Kentucky Orphan Brigade.

It is also important to note that even though we portray a Confederate unit, we can 'galvanize' or portray Federals soldiers for the sake of balancing the sides at events. It's not uncommon for us to actually play both sides at events.
